Are You Ready to Invest in Your Business?

July 27, 2016

With our last programs of 2016 closing this Sunday, we’ve received a lot of questions about how to know if it’s the right time to invest in your business or your business dreams. And since this is not a small decision we wanted to share the three questions our mentors ask themselves when it comes to time to invest in their own personal styling businesses. Here are their top three.

Do I have the tools to do it on my own?

With the immense amount of resources available online, lots of things can be figured out without spending a dime. The best way to know if it’s time to go beyond the tools you have access to for free (online or otherwise) is to research what you want to do and start taking action. If you feel stuck or like pieces of the puzzle are missing, it’s probably time to consider investing in outside resources to help you get where you want to go.

What am I willing to invest?

Most of us are used to the idea that we need to invest in our businesses financially. It’s often not as easy to wrap our minds around the amount of time and mental energy it takes to run a thriving business. Money can often buy a solid roadmap or the guidance necessary to achieve what you want, but you still need to put in the time and energy it takes to put that advice or guidance into action. Consider your timeline for achieving your goal. If you want to be a stylist full-time so you can leave your 9-5, then the amount of time you invest upfront should be significantly more than if you want to build your styling business as a side hustle and look at taking it full time at a later date.

Will this make me more money in the long-run?

A key question you should ask yourself before investing into a new or existing business is, “If I do the work necessary, will this program/course/coaching make my money back and then some?” For example, if an aspiring personal stylist invests in our Committed Program, it would typically take two to three styling clients to earn back their investment in our program. Looking at an investment in your business now as a path to making more later makes it easy to see if an investment is worth it for you.
